Reviews are the new word of mouth. They help people choose you, and they help Google decide where to rank you. The good news is that most happy customers are willing to leave one. They just need to be asked, at the right time, in the easiest possible way.
Ask at the right moment
The best time to ask is right after a good experience: when a patient thanks the doctor, when a guest compliments the room, when a customer says the food was great. A quick "Would you mind leaving us a Google review? It really helps" works better than any automated email.
Make it one tap
Get your direct review link from your Google Business Profile and turn it into a QR code. Put it on the bill folder, the reception desk, packaging and your WhatsApp follow-up message. Every extra step loses people.
Follow up once
A short WhatsApp or email message a day later, with the link, catches people who meant to but forgot. Once is enough. More starts to feel like pressure.
Reply to every review
Thank people by name for positive reviews. For negative ones, stay calm, apologise for the experience, and offer to fix it offline. Future customers read your replies as much as the reviews.
What not to do
- Don't buy or write fake reviews. Google removes them and can penalise your listing.
- Don't offer rewards for reviews. It breaks Google's rules.
- Don't only ask happy customers. Asking everyone is fairer and is what the rules expect.
Do this consistently for a few months and you'll see the difference in your rating, your ranking and your bookings.
